Geez, where has the time gone?

Doesn't feel like it's been over three weeks since my last blog note... please forgive me for neglecting you stalkers, uhh fans, uhh followers, uhhhhhh readers who love me very much. (this is my Tyson-speak)

Anyhoo... I've been having some fun reading up on Starshine's daily ramblings on his time in Toronto. O'Malley. New jobs and stolen/cranky vehicles. Tub happenings. Feeling sorry for my pathetic garden after looking at super-buffed gardens elsewhere. Big nasty operations.

I just got back from a fun ride on a balance-testing chair where I was fitted with vision goggles, covered up half of the time, and being twisted every which way on the chair while having hot and cold air force-fed alternatively into my ears while having to count in 3's. I was nearly puking by the fourth repetition, with all kinds of operatic sounds ringing in my left ear in particular. I've been battling tinnitus for the past two years with sounds alternating between monkey screeches, opera musicals, static and echoes. Half of the time, I'm trying to decide if there's a dozen monkeys screeching inside of my head or if there's a revival of the Gong Show.

Playing a waiting game...

Poppy's still being stubborn - he'll ask to go to the bathroom while still wearing pull-ups, and he'll crap while wearing underpants. The wait and the battle continues.

Today is going to be a busy day with the tin cans. We should know by today when we'll get the new Matrix, hopefully it'll be before Thursday as that's when the next payment would be due for the old Echo - it's much easier and less messy with the paperwork if we switch cars before then, so we can close the paperwork on the old car and go ahead with the new one (plus we wouldn't have to worry about making a payment for January!).

Today (or tomorrow), we'll take the rental car in and swap it out for a van to use to go to the big city tomorrow for the big family celebration for my grandmother's 95th. Being the cheapskate that I am, we decided to use the regular rental car that is covered, gratis, under the insurance plan for everyday use so Pene could get to work. If we upgraded to the van, we'd have to pay $17 more per day plus extra insurance. Fitting the 6 of us into a small Toyota Echo wasn't going to work and it wouldn't have been cost effective to take two cars to Toronto and back tomorrow, especially with Pene still feeling skittish being out there on the roads.

Pene's feeling almost completely back to normal physically, just a bit of buzzing going on in the head which is probably a result of the concussion. She went back to work for the first time yesterday and settled in without too many complications. Mentally, it'll still take time for her to get used to being back in a car and so far, she's mainly stuck to the small roads and hasn't been on a highway or a major thoroughway yet.
